VOXEL IP NETWORK
The Voxel IP Network has been constructed from the ground-up to deliver massive amounts of data over the Internet, including Rich Media such as Video and Audio, as well as VPN and IP Telephony traffic to the end users. The benefits to our client base have been enormous – increased flexibility, better performance, and the ability to provision additional capacity on demand.

The Voxel IP Network maintains hundreds of peering relationships with major Broadband ISPs in our Points of Presence around the country. The traffic destined to our peers is delivered directly to their network from our network via private inter-connections, circumventing the Internet at large. This results in dramatically improved performance and reliability to the “consumer” networks that are end-users of the vast amounts of data that the Voxel IP network delivers.

Dedicated Servers
The Voxel server set up for your domain would be comprised of two main components, a Managed Cluster and VoxCAST media delivery. VoxCAST was created to answer the increasingly high bandwidth needs of today’s media rich content.

Your managed server solution can be a managed cluster comprised of 4 servers, 2 web servers and 2 database servers to answer the increasingly high bandwidth needs of today’s media rich content.

A redundant load balancing service distributes traffic between the 2 active web servers. In the event that a web server fails or needs to be taken offline for maintenance or upgrades, the load balancer will automatically fail over traffic to the active web server. The web servers are high speed Opteron class systems, with high speed SCSI disks and upgraded memory capacity.

The database servers are on a seperate logical (private) network, and are interconnected to the web servers via dedicated Gigabit ethernet. The primary database server is replicated to a secondary virtualized server, which serves as a hot standby in event that the primary database is offline.

The VoxCAST media delivery enhances the scalability and quality of any sort of live or on demand video or audio content that your orgination choses to make available.

VoxCAST utilizes several hundred servers spread out across the world at various Voxel network nodes (including, but not limited to, New York, Virginia, Chicago, San Jose, Amsterdam) to deliver and cache content from the location closest to the end user. This not only provides a better experience to the audience, but offers almost unlimited scalability – fast downloads to hundreds of thousands of simultaneous viewers.

The combination of the Managed Cluster and VoxCAST Media Delivery offers you a stable, supported platform for their main site infrastructure, as well as a valuable tool for enhancing the consumption of rich media content.

High Bandwidth
The VoxCAST media server farm is a fully redundant array of high performance servers, designed to cache and deliver your content as quickly as possible, reducing load on your servers, and improving end user experience.
Voxel understands that traffic peaks and “flash floods” are almost impossible to plan for, let alone deploy cost effective solutions against. VoxCAST allows customers to break the cycle of “provision for worst case” by leveraging the VoxCAST farm of high performance media servers.
This solution offers unrivaled scalability and improved end user experience, while reducing the amount of infrastructure a customer has to have dedicated to their content.

Security
The facility (LGA2) features multiple levels of security. There is a 24/7/365 building security guard who will restrict access to the elevators. Once on the floor of the facility, a keycard access point is required to open the steel door into the man-trap area. Once through the first set of doors, there is a second key-card access point to ensure that no unauthorized personnel enter the facility. A dozen cameras stream footage back to operations center, and archive the contents off-site. Individual customer cabinets have combinations and keys. Finally, the area in which managed servers are located are secured via a cage accessible via a traditional lock and key accessible only to Voxel employees.

Internet Redundancy
Voxel offers unrivaled redundant access to the Internet, connected to almost every Tier-1 IP provider. In addition, Voxel peers directly with hundreds of networks at national and international interconnection points across the Voxel IP network. The facility (LGA2) is strategically situated less than a millisecond away from 2 of the largest of these interconnection points on the east coast. As one of the only managed service providers to operate its own international IP network, Voxel offer their hosting customers the best in operational flexibility, performance, and redundancy at the connectivity level.

Power Redundancy
The facility (LGA2) features both UPS and generator backed power, in addition to a large DC power plant. In the event of a power failure (such as the August 2003 blackout), the UPS systems will carry the full load for up to 30 minutes. As soon as the power fails, the generator is also started within 30 seconds. The generator can carry the full load and is designed for continuous use. In addition, since the Voxel LGA2 facility was constructed within a Level(3) floor that provides fiber interconnection to critical emergency management agencies, the generator is on the same priority level for fuel delivery as hospitals and key federal buildings in the city.

Content Delivery
ANOBLEWORLD has video-streaming and audio-streaming capability (VoxCAST CDN media delivery) hosting capability, but we can also work with multi-media capabilities solutions from an outside service (for instance YouTube, Veoh or Brightcove for steaming media; Odeo for audio-streaming; and Flickr or Airtight, for on-site photo gallery) that would be integrated with the website.
